Podujeva lies in the northeastern part of Kosovo, in the plain of Llap, bordered by the hilly-mountainous parts of Mount Albanik to the west and the eastern Kosovar mountains to the east.
Once a town in the Province of Llap, it has today transformed into a beautiful city and center with economic, educational, commercial, tourist, political, cultural, and sports importance, attracting Llapians, Kosovars, and foreigners (tourists). The municipality of Podujeva consists of 78 villages, including the town of Podujeva.
It has a strategic location with important transport links, including the highway and regional railway. The airport is only 40 km away from the municipality, and the city is home to the largest lake in Kosovo, Batllava Lake. The municipality of Podujeva covers an area of 633 km² and has over 120,000 inhabitants.
