The artificial Lake Ujman lies in the northwest of Kosovo and is the most important water reservoir for the economy of Kosovo. The Ujmani dam is one of the largest dams in Europe, measuring 460 meters in length and 107 meters in height.
Beneath the dam are hydroelectric plants with two turbines, and the lake serves as a compensation reservoir from which the aqueduct system begins. Without the water of Lake Ujman, Kosovo would lose electricity within a few hours. Its water is used for cooling and other purposes in the thermal power plants "Kosova A" and "Kosova B."
The plants for the reconstruction of the new power plant, known as "New Kosova," also depend on the supply of water from this lake.
